Master And Command

Explain two ways the characters and/or events in the extract fit the action adventure genre.

The main character of Captian Jack Aubrey, fits the typical action-adventure protagonist role as throughout the clip, this is because the shots focus on his expressions frequently. This means he is a main character as the focus is towards what he is experiencing. He is portrayed as "good" as he doesn't look 'look' menacing which stereotypically makes him the protagonist, which every action-adventure film has as a main character. The events also fit the typical action-adventure brief as on every film/episode that has the genre of action-adventure, there is always a fight against "good and evil" which this clip shows as their are two ships having a battle. The action sequence also follows the typical action film as the fighting has lots of explosions and the camera has a "shaking" movement as we watch Captian Aubrey direst his crew, which simulates the audience being involved with the action as well. All these are typical elements of a action-adventure film.

Explain how each of the following is used to create effects that fit the action adventure

The effect that Establishing shot has on the audience is that it lets the audience focus on what is going on in the scene instead of focusing on how the camera is moving. This is shown in the clip when Captain Aubrey quickly turns the ship left with the camera facing the front of the ship.
